9:30-10:31 - Everyone is in Children's Ministry

In this extended passage there are four key references to children
or “little ones.” Read through the text and identify
them.

In the first reference, Jesus uses a little child as an “object
lesson.” How does he use a child to reverse the meaning of
greatness? In what sense does a child come first?

How do the preoccupations and prejudices of the disciples compare
with what Jesus said they should be concerned about (9:38-50)?
4.
In what sense could divorce (10:1-12) become a major stumbling block
or hindrance to a child’s development?

Why does Jesus make children a Kingdom of God priority? Because
of their cute personalities? Or, because of their potential? Or,
because of their. . . ??

In the context of the “rich, young ruler” incident,
Jesus addresses the disciples as “children.” Why does
he refer to them as children and how does this relate to what has
gone before?
7.
How does Jesus use children to address adult issues (9:30-37), adult
prejudices (9:38-50), adult problems (10:1-16) and adult priorities
(10:17-31)?
