Acts 9:32-10:48 - Cornelius' Conversion

1. Luke’s description of the miraculous healing of Aeneas and Dorcas indicates the strategic impact of these highly unique events on the growth of the church. Can we, or should we, expect such miraculous healings today?

2. Is the expansion of the early church driven by Peter’s initiative?

3. Can a case be made for the fact that Cornelius was one of those rare individuals who responded to the light that he had been given?  As a devout and God-fearing man is he a picture of earnest people of other religions who sincerely seek God?

4. It does no good to ask ourselves how Peter would have responded to Cornelius’ request, if he had not had his vision and if the Spirit had not spoken to him, because God was at work in both Cornelius and Peter to bring about his will. Does this intricate and unique process surprise you? How does God bring together seekers and messengers today?

5. As far as Peter was concerned, it was a major feat for a Jew to even visit a Gentile. When he said, “May I ask you why you sent for me?” did he realize what God was about to do?

6. After Cornelius shared his experience, Peter began to preach. What made this such a ground-breaking Gospel message?

7. Luke intentionally compares Saul’s conversion and Cornelius’ conversion. In what ways are they similar? In what ways are they different?
