Small Group Bible Studies

Why are Small Group Bible Studies Important?

Bible studies are a wonderful way to more fully participate in the life of this household of faith. There are many important reasons to be a part of a Small Group Bible Study, but there a four primary reasons we think you'll benefit from being a part!

1. A Primary Source of Caregiving - We have ordained pastors here at FPC, but we believe that those who are in closest relationship with you (oftentimes those who are a part of your small group) are the ones God uses most effectively to minister to you in times of crisis and need. Your Small Group will enable you to walk through trials. Your Small Group will be filled with family members in the faith who know you best. It's our prayer that your involvement in a Small Group will provide caregiving for your soul like you've never experienced before!

2. A Great Way to Stay Connected - Our church is spread all across San Diego County, but that doesn't mean that we can't stay connected between Sundays! We've attempted to start Small Groups all over the county so that there is sure to be one somewhere near where you do life each week. Here is your chance to stay connected to the life of our household of faith along with other believers without trekking all the way downtown during the week. Our Small Groups are also open groups, which means that we are always open to new visitors and always looking for ways to help newcomers connect themselves with the life of our church.

3. A Sense of Community - In a sense, a Small Group is simply a container that holds people together for a while. The container itself is not what's important, it's the people within it and the community they share. What happens inbetween formal group gatherings is often as important as the meetings themselves! Many of our groups that have chosen to meet every other week will use their "off" week to connect for dinner or some other social gathering. Involvement in a Small Group doesn't compete with Sunday worship, it provides a wonderful complement to the times when we gather as an entire household of faith to worship.

4. A Chance to Grow Deeper - There is so much to learn about our God! We can't possibly grow to know all we desire to know of God through hearing one sermon each week. Involvement in a Small Group provides an excellent chance to study God's Word under the direction of a well-prepared teacher in a casual, discussion-based format. This Bible study is accessible and challenging for both the long-time Christian and curious seeker wanting a safe place to explore faith alongside believers. Everyone is invited to grow deeper together!
