Memory Verse Program
Prime
Time Memory Bank Rules
Set
Up:
A table will
be set up in the hallway just outside the Geneva Room every Sunday morning
from 8:50 to 9:00 am and 10:00 to 10:30 am. There will be Memory Verse
Listeners there to listen, record and reward the child.
General
Rules:
- A child
may begin saying verses at any age. If the verse is not from our memory
bank, please have a copy of the verse in the version that the child
has memorized.
- The child
must say each verse from memory with no more than two “helps”
from the Memory Verse Listener.
- A child
may quote a maximum of 5 verses (or entries) each week. He/she may repeat
that verse again the next month.
Procedure:
Payment:
- The general
rule is “One verse, one buck,” however, if a verse is in
the learning period and the child also learns the hand motions, the
child is paid 5 bucks per verse, when recited perfectly.
- If a child
cannot read (usually Kindergarten and younger), a parent usually has
to take extra time to work with the child so that really both of them
are learning the verse, so double bucks are paid.
Prime
Time General Store (and Bank):
- For 2,
3 and 4 year olds brought by their parents, the Prime Time Store is
open before Sunday School, after they have recited. For all others,
the store is open only after Sunday School. Prime Time Bucks may be
banked before Sunday School.
- Prices
are subject to change due to supply and demand.
- If you
would like your child not to be allowed to buy specific items of any
kind such as candy or stuffed animals, just let Mr. Henry know!
- Most of
the items in the Prime Time Store, both new and used, are donated. All
donations are happily accepted, but it is most helpful if your donation
is something in particular that motivates your child, but not normally
available in the store.
Awards:
“Who’s Got the Bucks?”:
Our annual
award ceremony in June entitled “Who’s Got the Bucks?”
is the program’s way of awarding both effort and excellence. Each
child that has recited at all during that school year is reviewed. The
records are checked for how many different Bible verses each child
recited and recorded on a worksheet. Then, certificates are given out
to every child who has participated in the program, with special award
ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at each grade level.
There is
also an Honor Roll for each student who has 20 or more points in the program,
and they receive a special award as well for attaining that notable level
of excellence.
