What
We Believe: We believe that the Bible is God's special revelation to all people and is completely trustworthy and fully authoritative in all matters that it addresses. Our desire is not only to affirm an Evangelical and Reformed doctrine of Scripture, but also to live under the authority of God's revealed Word, by the grace of God. We confess the Nicean and Chalcedonian Creeds, which state that Jesus is God's one and only Son, truly God and truly man. And that belief in Jesus' atoning sacrifice on the cross, by God's will and redemptive provision, is essential for salvation. Our hope in life or death is in the risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe we are justified by faith alone in Jesus Christ. By God's grace, Christ's righteousness is imputed to us through faith. We are all sinners, who are saved by grace alone. By God's grace we have been set free to obey, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the will of God as it is revealed in God's Law. By understanding the Law of God, we understand both our need for forgiveness and the power of God's grace to work within us to be faithful and obedient to Christ. We believe that while we are not saved by works, lest anyone should boast, we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Grace empowers the believer to live obediently and faithfully in Christ. We believe that from beginning to end, Salvation History is the revelation of God's grace to sinners who stand condemned. All forgiveness, redemption and reconciliation are solely based on the Cross of Christ. Everything leads up to and away from this ultimate and climactic act of redemption. Salvation has always been on the same basis, that is, by grace, through faith in the finished work of Christ. We believe that Baptism does not save us or reconcile us to God, but it points to the promise God has made in Christ to all those whom God has called. Baptism is an act of obedience practiced in the body of Christ. It is a public confession of faith, signifying the believer's reliance upon Christ alone for salvation. Children and adults are baptized on the basis of God's promise. Children are trained and nurtured in the light of God's gracious provision, with the prayer of faith that at an early age they will confess a personal relationship with and dependence upon Jesus Christ. We believe that the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit is manifest in the full range of gifts described in the New Testament. We acknowledge our dependence upon the Spirit of Christ to prepare God's people for works of service. We seek to be filled with the Spirit and to live lives transformed by Christ. We affirm The Westminster Confession of Faith. We believe in the total depravity of humankind and the evidence of God's image even in the vilest sinner. We accept God's unconditional and sovereign control over all people and affirm the freedom and responsibility of the person to respond to God. We believe in the salvation God provides through Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross for all those who are elected and in the universal invitation of the gospel-that whosoever will may come. We believe in the irresistible grace of God as well as the human freedom of choice to accept or reject the gospel. We believe in the perseverance of the saints and the struggle to remain faithful to the end. We believe that we are called, together with all those in Christ, to proclaim the gospel to everyone, everywhere. Our goal is to represent our Lord Jesus in the most authentic and fullest possible way and invite others to respond to Jesus' invitation. We believe that within the household of faith we are called by Christ to hold one another accountable to the doctrines and practices revealed and commanded in God's Word. We are convinced that every aspect, concern and sphere of life, including science, history, philosophy and the arts must be centered in Jesus Christ and reflect the truth of God's revelation. Our belief is that nothing lies outside his Lordship whether it be our personal lives, public actions, family life, vocations, recreational activities or our devotional experiences. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus and in his Second Coming. Our hope of everlasting life depends on the risen Lord Jesus who will rule and reign forever. We serve a risen Savior and wait for his soon return. We believe in a final, universal judgment, in which those who have been saved will experience eternity with Christ in a new heaven and a new earth and those apart from Christ will be destined to hell. We accept the reality of heaven and hell and acknowledge our limitations, given our current space and time creation, to be able to "visualize" or comprehend these realities. We believe in the absolute significance of God's Kingdom work. Through prayer and participation we want to be constantly aware of and involved with the Body of Christ worldwide. |
